In Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor we return to the edge of the sky after a long dry spell. Although that is a few numbers smaller than in Skyrim, it is half the fun is under the surface. More precisely 40 percent of the fun, because this part of the map will probably take the underworld of Himmelsrand.
A fraction of Heaven's Edge
The new chapter of ESO guides us to the west of Skyrim. There we experience a reunion with Morthal, walk over the dragon bridge to loneliness and return to the tavern for the winking skeever.
The sky edge 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim will therefore seem familiar to us. You can read everything about the similarities and differences of well-known locations in our interactive travel guide:

ESO Greymoor looks astonishingly similar to Skyrim – despite a huge leap in time
But of course that is only a tiny fraction of the mapthat we were able to travel in the original. A Reddit user presented a map based on video material to show the limits of ESO Greymoor.
Previously, we could already visit the areas around Rifte and Windhelm in ESO. But what did the magician city of winter festivals look like, Markarth carved into the rock by Dwemern, or the largest city of Skyrand's White Run 1,000 years ago? That remains a secret.
We descend into the underworld
For this, the underworld of Skyrim, called the black range, turn out to be much bigger than still in the original. This is where the music plays – or the vampire prince with his victims. He is the great evil we face in Greymoor and his eponymous fortress Greymoor is somewhere in the depths of the black range.
The developers want to play with the feeling that black distance already existed in Skyrim under the feet of the players – without our knowledge.
"We want to expand this idea even further. It's not just under this part of Skyrim. Maybe the cave stretches all the way from Skyrim and is always under your feet no matter where you go."
The black range in Skyrim was quite impressive, but still didn't offer much variety. In Greymoor, however, the fluorescent mushroom caves donated several completely new biomes.
How much fun is the new Sky Edge adventure?
Gloria answers this question in her preview of ESO Greymoor. She believes the Skyrim addon delivers what the MMO has needed for years. You can also get a free look at ESO and the new addon: Because Elder Scrolls Online is currently playable for free and even gives you a prologue to Greymoor.
