In addition to the digital E3, another major game industry event is already casting its shadow. This year’s Summer Game Fest 2021 will take place in a similar context – including a number of world premieres.
As announced, the Summer Game Fest returns this year. Last year the event was held as an unofficial replacement for the canceled E3, this time host Geoff Keighley is returning almost parallel to the (digital) E3 2021.
As of today, it is clear: The Summer Game Fest 2021 will start on Thursday, June 10, 2021. The opening event was scheduled for 8:00 p.m. German time that day. At the beginning, the rock band Weezer has the honor of performing a brand new song for a video game soundtrack.
According to Geoff Keighley, you can then look forward to a two-hour long show. During the opening event, 12 or maybe even more premieres will be shown. One or two new releases or gameplay premieres will be available in advance of the digital E3, which will start on June 12th. In the further course of the Summer Game Fest there will also be the Day of the Devs Indie Showcase.
Partners include 2K Games, Activision, Bandai Namco, Blizzard, Capcom, Devolver Digital, EA, Epic Games, Gearbox, Hi-Rez, PlayStation, Riot, SEGA, Square Enix, Steam, Ubisoft, Warner, Xbox and other developers and Publisher. In contrast to the previous year, the event is to be streamlined significantly and no longer extend over four months.
