You won't come to New York for 30 euros – except in The Division 2. Because that's how much the DLC, which goes back to the Big Apple, will cost you. In the Lower Manhattan district you hunt the part 1 known rogue agent Aaron Keener. He has four other ex-division members as reinforcements, which you have to eliminate as part of a new campaign.
The expansion is aimed at veterans as well as newbies. While connoisseurs of the main game can get started right away with their Level 30 agent, beginners can immediately bring their newly created character to this level with a boost. So you don't necessarily have to campaign in Washington, D.C. complete to play the expansion.
Once in New York, you can choose the order in which you want to tackle the main missions. The new Lower Manhattan area with its Civic Center, Battery Park, Two Bridges and Financial District areas is open to you from the start. Before you can start with Vivian Conley, Javier Kajika, James Dragov and Theo Parnell, you have to find out where they are. To do this, you complete four smaller orders to get the necessary information.

The expansion does not change the usual good division gameplay – if you know the loot shooter, you will immediately find your way around. You will again be dealing with the Rikers and Cleaners who made your life difficult in the previous version. These are slightly changed enemy types, but with the same explosive vulnerabilities. On the way you activate echoes, access computers or collect audio logs.
Once you have identified the position of the respective agent, you begin the actual main mission, at the end of which the rogue agent asks for the boss fight. Each of the four agents uses a special skill that you can take from him after the victory. So you get the stick bomb from the first division in the versions fire and explosive device, an electric shock trap and a bait that creates a hologram of your agent.
Leaded sightseeing
Visually, New York is again very chic, although it is largely in ruins. A violent hurricane has hit Lower Manhattan hard. Many roads are blocked with rubble or are under water. Similarly, rows of houses were partially or completely destroyed. This creates a new atmosphere and graphic variety in the supposedly well-known Big Apple, especially since summer has also come here.
The fight in the open streets already offers some worth seeing, because Massive has again placed great emphasis on details and a credible structure of the world. The highlight, however, are the four main missions, which lead, among other things, to the disused The Tombs prison and a damaged cargo ship. The eight side missions also offer something for the eye: the battles take place, for example, at the local police headquarters or an underground supermarket.

Of course, the Lower Manhattan Open World also has some activities to offer. You take control points and defend them to gain access to replenishment rooms with loot. In bounty bets, you try to get named opponents out of the way. In addition, the hidden suitcases with SHD points are collected to improve the home base Haven. In short, something always happens, even if you are not pursuing a mission.
The story thing
The entertaining campaign will keep you busy for about six hours. Unfortunately, no difficulty level can be set again on the first run. Overall, we found the missions too easy: Neither normal opponents nor the four rogue agents caused our team any major problems. Only when playing again can the claim be raised.
Massive also tried to make the story of warlords more interesting and give the renegade agents a profile. Cutscenes, radio messages and thematically appropriate levels should reveal more about the character and motivation of Keener and his people. But action, loot and RPG elements once again give the story little room for development. Emotionality or big moments are nonexistent, rather you rush through the campaign as usual and end up wondering who was actually fought against – and above all why. Even the return of well-known comrades from Part 1, especially Faye Lau and Paul Rhodes, does not create a nostalgic atmosphere, but is practically drowned out.

The soundscape showed unusually large weaknesses during the test on the PS4. Sometimes, every minute, music, effects, voices or everything suspend at the same time. This was not just annoying, but also impaired the enjoyment of the game, because we could not hear enemies or shots coming from behind and therefore could not assign any direction. In addition, the game crashed several times during the logout process and then displayed an error message.
Big changes
Together with the expansion, a completely revised system for weapons, equipment and values was launched. Due to the scope, we only deal with the biggest changes below. The detailed patch notes for title update 8 can be found in official forum
All damage and armor values have been rebalanced. In connection with the new maximum level 40 you can disassemble all your old items. But they do a good job. Because recently the attributes of weapons and armor can be extracted at the workbench and saved in a library. If you want to recalibrate an assault rifle in the future, you can take the desired value or a certain talent from your collection and apply it to it. Unlike in the past, the attribute is not used. Restrictions only set you resources and money. In addition, as before, you are limited to the exchange of one value per item.

The attributes and talents mentioned have also been adjusted. This makes the strengths and weaknesses of an item more recognizable. Together with the recalibration, it is easier to create a specialized sniper, melee or healer. The former skill level has given way to a skill rank. By adding armor pieces with skill points you increase this rank in six levels. At each level, your two equipped skills will receive fixed bonuses.
The new endgame
Once you’ve completed the Warlords campaign, an endgame that’s different from the main game begins. From now on, you will no longer receive boxes with loot for levels, but so-called SHD points. This will upgrade piecewise central agent values such as armor, headshot damage or skill duration. However, you may not use them completely freely: said points are divided into the categories attack, defense, addition, handling and looting and can only be earned in this order. It is therefore not possible, for example, to invest the first four points completely in more skill levels.

After completing the story, you can also increase the overall level of difficulty. This makes all activities in the open world not only more demanding, but also more rewarding. The Legendary level can now also be selected for the Roosevelt Island, Capitol and District Union Arena missions. Switchable directives such as less ammunition or no armor regeneration further increase the difficulty, but at the same time also improve the EP gain. The Washington Dark Zones have also been improved. The focus is on more excitement and fighting when salvaging and fighting other agents.
Seasons, Leagues & Global Events
The seasons should provide long-term motivation. The first round started on March 10th. Over a period of three months, you hunt four new rogue agents. To locate each of them, you must complete tasks such as bounty bets, checkpoints, and main missions anywhere in the division game world. If you have completed the current goal, you will receive a seasonal container with special content as a reward. If you manage to eliminate all four agents within the three months, the way to the primary goal is open. Completing the entire season will bring you a new skill.
At the same time, you can activate a season pass that contains a total of 100 levels. You also unlock these with earned points. As a reward, special content beckons at every level, such as weapon skins and containers with equipment. While the current pass is still free, around EUR 10 will be due from season 2.
Two more activities will start in a few days. Liga faces a number of challenges. The better you manage them, the higher the rewards. Global Event, on the other hand, applies a special modification to the entire game world. If you complete the required tasks, there are again equipment and other extras. Campaign, seasons, leagues, global events and clothing events are only available to buyers of the Warlords expansion. The same applies to the new weapons, items and level cap 40.
