The corona crisis is affecting companies worldwide and, as is well known, is far from stopping at the gaming industry. But what impact does this have on the Sony gaming sector? May upcoming PS4 blockbusters like The Last of Us: Part II have to be postponed again? Sony has now commented on this!

Many small businesses around the world are concerned about the existence of the corona crisis and the associated exit restrictions, but larger companies are of course also badly affected. The virus does not stop at Sony and has economic consequences. Does that mean a further shift of blockbusters like The Last of Us: Part II or Ghost of Tsushima?
At least in this regard, there is now the all-clear, because Sony has given a general statement about the situation in the company in view of the virus. Statements were also about the games division called Game & Network Services. Fortunately, according to the explanation, no major faults can be expected in this area.
In short: The games that are actively being developed should not be postponed, because Sony does not expect the virus crisis to have any major impact on the current fiscal year, at least in this area.
Even if the all-clear is given so far, possible postponements at a later point in time cannot be completely ruled out in view of the unclear future. In this regard, it is said at least that "the risk of shifts in the production cycles for software titles in both the first-party studios and in the partner studios will be closely monitored, above all in Europe and in the USA". So far, "no problems have occurred," said Sony.
For top titles like The Last of Us: Part II (planned release on May 29, 2020) and Ghost of Tsushima (planned release on June 26, 2020), this means good news for the moment. However, Sony did not go into detail about the planned next-gen console PlayStation 5 and the possible effects on its production.
