The first season of the Netflix series on The Witcher is known to have got off to a good start. If the streaming service is now confirmed, it is even on a record course. In addition, there are increasing signs that a film on the fantasy series could also be created.
Despite confusing leaps in time, the Netflix series on The Witcher turned out to be a great success and received many good reviews. How big the success actually is is now clear from a current annual report from Netflix itself. On the occasion of the announcement of figures for the fourth quarter of 2019, the streaming provider itself now confirmed that The Witcher is on the way to becoming "the biggest Season 1 of a TV series" on Netflix.
Within the first four weeks of its launch on December 20, over 76 million households who have subscribed to Netflix have already switched on the show. For comparison: The so successful Netflix series "The Crown", which started in 2016, reached 73 million in the comparison period and has already been left behind. In the film area, the action spectacle "6 Underground" with 83 million households proved to be particularly popular.
However, this does not mean that the numbers mentioned have actually looked at the series in full. Rather, Netflix lists in this statistic than those subscribers who watched at least two minutes of content and more. From this, Netflix deduces that it was not an accident at launch and the content was intentionally accessed.
So Netflix has every reason to continue working on Season 2. This should start in 2021, but be fore that there may be another content to see! There are growing indications that there will also be a film implementation of The Witcher in the run-up to the second season.
How Redanian Intelligence reported, such a project has now appeared on the net for the first time via the Writers Guild of America. According to this WGA entry, the film will be called "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf" and written by Beau DeMayo. Interesting: DeMayo was the writer responsible for the third episode "Betrayer Moon" of the current Netflix series. He also acted as a co-producer of the episodes "Much More" and "The End's Beginning".
In this context, the website picks up on previous rumors that were based on an animated film project. "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf" could be exactly that, although Geralt actor Henry Cavill could possibly lend his voice to the protagonist again.
