However, Rust is now facing competition from two sci-fi indie games from Europey and China.
Everspace 2 scratches the top
As we already reported at the early access start of Everspace 2, the space shooter turned out to be a great success for the Europe developers of Rockfish Games. For a short time, the title was at the top of the global bestseller on Steam, but currently the prey hunt inspired by action role-playing games like Diablo is still in sixth place. The Steam user reviews also suggest that things have been done right here: 93 percent of the ratings are positive.

Dyson Sphere Program on the rise
The sci-fi game Dyson Sphere Program from the Chinese Youthcat Studios is an even bigger competitor for the top position. The game is very reminiscent of factory simulations such as Factorio or Satisfactory, but thinks in much larger dimensions. In the Dyson Sphere Program you can not just build a single map, but entire planets with your industrial plants.
Since the weekend, the game has ranked first among the global Steam bestsellers, plus an impressive number of almost 30,000 simultaneous players for an indie title. For the most part, these seem pretty enthusiastic about what the game has to offer: 96 percent of users recommend the game. If Dyson Sphere Program hadn’t only appeared at the end of last week, we might already have a new Steam Charts leader.
