Honesty seems to be becoming increasingly rare among PC gamers. Even in the closed beta of the shooter Valorant, the spell hammer has to be swung vigorously.

Pretty much all multiplayer games on PC struggle with cheaters. Even Valorant, the upcoming online shooter by League of Legends developer Riot Games, is no exception. Even though the game is not yet available, it is currently in closed beta.
Riot Games is already cracking down with its own anti-cheat system Vanguard. Phillip Koskinas from Riot Games confirmed via Twitter that almost 9,000 accounts have already been banned from cheating because of the beta.
located a VALORANT universe where there were 8873 less cheaters and moved us all into it, please be careful as your bones may've shifted during dimensional travel

This first ban wave is just the beginning, the developer wants to continue to crack down on cheaters:
Even though this is just closed beta, we've promised that we're going to be heavily committed to anti-cheat. This banwave is still only the beginning. We're going to ensure the highest standard of competitive integrity in VALORANT. https://t.co/EjxuYG0JEE

However, the Vanguard system is not entirely uncontroversial, even if it seems to be working quite well so far. The basis is namely a permanently running kernel driver, which sometimes collides with various hardware drivers. It will be interesting to see if and how the measures from Riot Games ultimately work in the final game.
Cheating is a problem that is currently widespread in PC versions, which other titles like Destiny 2 or The Division 2 also have to struggle with. Call of Duty: Warzone is also affected, where an authentication system via cell phone number has just been activated to make it difficult for players with banned accounts to re-enter with a new account.
