In many ways, Volkswagen ID.3 is currently the most important and exciting project for Volkswagen. It is enough to look at the technical d ata. CEO Herbert Diess is now personally informing about the progress and has posted an extraordinary photo on LinkedIn.

Mr. Diess, how about Volkswagen ID.3. The Volkswagen boss now answers this question directly in the room. On the LinkedIn career portal, he wrote:

"I will start a new work week with Thomas Ulbrich, driven by Volkswagen ID.3, which is our most important project at present, aiming to achieve the European carbon dioxide targets for 2020 and 2021.

The corona pandemic is a real challenge to the market and production. We will make every effort to meet the release schedule. In terms of research and development, we currently work in two shifts in the morning and evening. We wear masks, keep our distance and abide by strict hygiene standards. Most of the personal conferences are replaced by video conferences. And we are making progress: Thomas has just returned from a 1,200-kilometer test drive, stopped several times at the fast charging point, and is very satisfied with the performance of ID.3.

Board members ’water level reports may have this background, but this format may be a bit unusual. The sales of Volkswagen ID.3 are planned for the summer of 2020. Since Volkswagen clearly has problems with electric vehicle software, it has recently been questioned by observers. Nevertheless, 30,000 Volkswagen ID.3 should be sold at the same time. Part of this "first version" is reserved for Volkswagen employees who test electric vehicles in their daily lives and provide feedback to the group.

Volkswagen is fully committed to electric vehicles. In 2019, the Wolfsburg-based company announced that it wanted to sell about 100,000 electric vehicles in 2020 alone-a large part of which is Volkswagen ID.3. Built on the same platform, the smaller VW ID.1 and the larger VW ID.4 will be provided later. In terms of price, ID.3 happens to be in the middle, which also applies to other key technical data.

Volkswagen ID.3: Technical data

  • The price is less than 30,000 euros
  • Three-cell battery capacity [45, 58 and 77 kWh]
  • Fast charging up to 125 KW
  • 330 to 550 km range [WLTP]
  • More legroom than golf
  • New business concept

Recently, Volkswagen released some interesting videos about small electric cars. You should take a closer look, especially on AR head-up displays.
