The Witcher Netflix show greatly increased the number of Witcher 3 on Steam.
During the holiday break, Netflix premiered all episodes of its first season wizard series. Although based on books rather than games, discussions around performances have sparked interest in games.
More specifically, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. On December 22, two days after the show was suspended, Wild Hunt broke Steam's previous concurrent player record and climbed to just over 48,000 players. The previous numbers were achieved when the game was released, and few games usually reach release highs again.
But for Wild Hunt, this is just the beginning. In the process of breakthrough, the game has steadily grown, continuing to gain more and more players, while creating a new peak of nearly 102,000 players, easily ranking it in the top five on Steam, and competing with PUBG, Dota 2 and Behemoths such as GTA 5.
Of course, during this period, the price of the game was only $ 12, and the entire game was sold for $ 15, but sales rarely increased the number of players at the same time.
This data is more important than sales data or any other indicator on Steam and is a good indicator of relevance and player interest. In 2020, The Witcher 3 seems to be more important than ever.
