Nintendo said that with the cancellation of E3 in 2020, Nintendo will seek other ways to keep fans up to date.
The company said in a statement that it supports ESA's decision to cancel E3 2020 to help "protect the health and safety of all people."
The company said it will continue to be “flexible and redirected” in an effort to make “other ways” aware of its activities and products. It also said that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it is unlikely to participate in industry events in the "foreseeable future."
"Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, large-scale industry activity may not be sustainable for the foreseeable future," Gamespot said. "But we are considering various ways to interact with fans, and as the year continues, we will have more to share."
This means we might expect more Nintendo Directs, but the company did not elaborate on its plans.
Instead of holding a traditional press conference at E3 for years, the company opted for pre-recorded presentations and Treehouse Live streams. It's possible we'll see the Treehouse Live stream from the company's headquarters instead of the showroom. But this is just a guess, because Nintendo's plan seems to be still under discussion.
ESA announced earlier this week that it had cancelled the 2020 E3 due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus. After the news, Microsoft and Ubisoft announced plans to host digital events. Devolver Digital has plans too Host a "Live Devolver Direct / Press Conference and more".
