Smart delivery, which is the free upgrade from Xbox One games to Xbox Series X versions, is a big feature for the upcoming console and some big games have already been confirmed for it.

The ability to upgrade Xbox One games to versions for the new console for free is one of the key features of the Xbox Series X beyond the console hardware. Smart delivery is the name of the game, and Microsoft has done well to announce this feature early, while Sony has so far been covering up on similar features for the PS5.
After yesterday's Inside Xbox, where some third-party titles were introduced and announced, the list of smart delivery titles has already filled up well. Ten titles are currently confirmed, namely:
-
The Ascent (Curve Digital)
-
Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Ubisoft)
-
Call of the Sea (Raw Fury)
-
Chorus (Deep Silver)
-
Cyberpunk 2077 (CD Projekt Red)
-
DiRT 5 (Codemasters)
-
Scarlet Nexus (Bandai Namco)
-
Second Extinction (Systemic Reaction)
-
Vampires: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (Paradox Interactive)
-
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Sega)
One can certainly assume that this list will quickly fill up further. After all, according to Microsoft, 140 studios are currently working on titles for the new console.
EA seems to be outside, however, because the publisher is cooking his own soup and apparently only allows an upgrade to Xbox Series X within certain time windows, as can be seen from the example of the Madden NFL 21 announced yesterday. To take advantage of the free upgrade offer, players must have purchased Madden NFL 21 on Xbox One by December 31, 2020, and must have switched to Xbox Series X by March 31, 2021. It will be interesting to see whether a similar model will be used for other EA titles. It is a shame, however, that EA is leaving the very sensible system.
