Christian Ohrens is blind from birth – and passionate video player. In the podcast, he tells Dimi and Micha how you experience games as a blind person, how he even started playing, and why audio games developed especially f or blind people are not as captivating as retro classics.
Because Christian started playing on the C64, followed by SNES and Gameboy. He played fighting games like Street Fighter, Jump & Runs like Donkey Kong Country and Sidescroller like Parodius by ear and by memorizing the game mechanics. He still reveres these genres and games today – also for their loving retro soundscape, which many players do not notice in detail.
At the Blind Gaming Event on May 22, 2020 in Hamburg, Christian would like to give sighted players the opportunity to experience retro games blindly. Find out more about him and his passion in the podcast or on his blog.
