On Jan. 17, a federal court in Dallas ruled that a patent guaranteed against Nintendo's Remote would not work. The court concluded that Life Technologies Inc. has been trying its best to cover the broad concept of using motion sensors to detect movement. The decision reverses Nintendo's $ 18 million jury award from 2017.
The obsolete patent was the last of the six patents filed by iLife Technologies Inc. against Nintendo in 2013. The Patent Office found five more unemployed in 2016.
"Nintendo has a long history of inventing new and unique products, and we are pleased that, after many years of litigation, the court agreed with Nintendo," said Ajay Singh, Nintendo's Executive Vice President. "We will continue to vigorously defend our products from companies that seek to make profits from technologies they do not acquire."
