As you know, the developer of Shovel Knight presented a spin-off of the game last week at the PAX West conference. Is about Shovel Knight Dig, where the main novelty will be to introduce us in each level digging.
In a recent interview, designer Alec Faulkner highlights his inspiration for the new scroller:
Shovel Knight is armed with its shovel, which now automatically holds down when it jumps down (unlike traditional Shovel Knight games). The vertical scroll is ideal for skewering enemies that crawl from above. (…) W hen Shovel Knight is not using his shovel to hit the bad guys, he can use it to dig through the mountains of dirt that impede his progress.
Likewise, they reiterate their development for the next game in the saga:
Somehow we said that from the beginning. Let's do Shovel Knight Downwell.
