In this case we will show you how to clean the active keyboard (no matter what kind of switch, including the lower profile, which we used), but with the keyboard keyboards the process will be the same. It's different than the candy key buttons or the replacement of butterflies, especially because in order to remove hooks you have to do it carefully to not break the machine.
The cleansing process
As we mentioned earlier, keyboards are dirty even if you notice. It no longer means that you spilled something, it's that they eventually get dust, hair and all sorts of dirt left under the hoods, and can cause problems in extreme cases. With everything and everything, even if it's neat, we need to clean the keyboard from time to time to keep it in good condition.
For our example we will use a Corsair K70 Rapidfire RGB with Cherry MX Speed Low Profitches, which was cleaned about six months ago with minimal care. However, as you can see, it is also contaminated with everyday use.
The first step we must take is to remove each of the key symbols. To do this, simply hold them in sides and gently pull, even though most keyboards feature an easy-to-remove tool.
Better yet, or memorize where each key goes, that when you remove them you leave it in order and make no mistakes when you take it back.
We now have many ways to continue cleaning, but they are both included isopropyl alcohol, the only guarantee that the hood plastic will not be damaged. We can also use toilet alcohol, but remember that if we are not careful it can damage the plastic, so we do not recommend it.
It is clear that it is more expensive than wild alcohol, but it is the only one that is recommended when we use it in electronic components. In addition, with one liter bottle we will have to clean the keyboards for years.
Now, as we mentioned, there are many options, but many of them include ear plugs and / or toilet paper that eventually leave residue on the keyboard, so what we recommend is to use microfiber cloth
Once done, we wrap the fabric and return the isopropyl alcohol to its other face. We will now take hooks and clean up their five faces by simply removing them a bit with a hot cloth. As we finish cleaning the hood, we can continue to restore the keyboard by simply placing it on the top of the switch and pressing down on the floor.
This last part of the cleaning process involves a key cleaner, so it takes a while (about half an hour) but it's a great way to make sure we get rid of all the dirt on the keyboard and that it looks like it's new. And finally it's worth it.
The keyboard looks new, and not only is it clean but it also kills germs due to alcohol. By key by key.
You should clean the keyboard regularly
The process we told you today takes about an hour. It's fun, especially for the key cleaner, but it's also not something we have to do every week.
If you are careful not to pollute (and most importantly: if you do not smoke while on a PC because cigarettes make everything dirty very quickly, not to mention ash), with this procedure once every six months is enough in most cases, and even more cautiously. If you regularly smoke and eat on a PC, it is a good thing to do once a month to keep it healthy and clean.
