It is no secret that Huawei would launch its own series Smartphones P40, but with three different models to choose from with different prices and different specifications and features it might be hard to know which model is best for you.
Don't worry, because here we are going to compare three P40 phones in key areas, highlighting the differences to buy the right one. We will not go into all the small details, but we will look at what is most important when deciding one of the three P40s.
Although we were able to get inside information about mobiles prior to their launch, it is also true that Huawei never provided details on their pricing and launch dates before the official event. We will therefore update that information as it becomes available.
For now let's take a look at how the P40, P40 Pro and P40 + compare to the cameras, shows and specs in general. You can also read our review of the Huawei P40 and Huawei P40 Pro.
P40 cameras
Let's start with the most important comparison, because the camera technology is different on all three phones.
There is a camera that all three P40 phones have: a 50 MP ultra wide lens. The P40 comes with a 16 MP Ultra wide-angle camera and an 8 MP telephoto camera with it
Pro swaps the two additional 40MP wide-angle 40MP "cine lens" cameras and a 12MP 5x phone lens. There is also a time (ToF) sensor.
Finally, the P40 Pro + has the same 50 and 40 MP cameras, combined with an 8x 3x telephoto lens, an 8MP 10x superperiscopal optical telephoto lens and ToF sensor.
Here's a more detailed overview of the phone's rear camera series

Speaking of front camera, all P40 models have a 32 MP sensor, but the Pro models have autofocus and IR depth, in part to improve facial recognition.
We believe that those who are interested in photography for the program should purchase the P40 Pro +. More details for the P40 series cameras:
- Audio Zoom (Pro & Pro +)
- Fixed phone lens
- ISO 51200
- 7680fps is a slower slow motion
- HDR
- 4K @ 60fps
- 4K session expires

P40 screens
As usual, the standard P40 has a smaller screen, 6.1 inches. It also has a short feature dimension and resolution of 19.5: 9 2340×1080.
Getting a Pro or Pro + gives you a larger 6.58-inch screen and a higher aspect ratio of 19.8: 9. The resolution is also 2640×1200.
All three phones have a camera with holes in the top left, but the "overflow screen", where it cuts off the edge, is limited to the Pro models.
There's also the fact that Pro / + gives you a 90Hz refresh rate when the average P40 is low at 60Hz. Pros certainly have a really good screen, if you agree with the larger size.
P40 | P40 Pro | P40 Pro + | |
Dimensions | 6.1 inch | 6.58 inch | 6.58 inch |
The decision | 2340×1080 | 2640×1200 | 2640×1200 |
Average rating | 19.5: 9 | 19.8: 9 | 19.8: 9 |
Refresh rate | 60Hz | 90Hz | 90Hz |
Battery life and P40
This is another area where the standard P40 lags behind the Pro models as it has a small 3800mAh battery and the load on both cables is limited to 22,5W. The phone has no wireless charging.
At that time, getting a Pro or Pro + is up to 4200mAh and both wireless and wireless charging can provide 40W (adapter provided in the box).
P40 | P40 Pro | P40 Pro + | |
Battery capacity | 3800mAh | 4200mAh | 4200mAh |
The fee | 22.5W | 40W | 40W |
Wireless charging | No. | 40W | 40W |
P40 colors and waterproofing
This may not be as important as the above, but it will still be important in other people's purchasing decisions.
The P40 comes in a variety of colors, depending on where you live, including ice white, black, navy blue, silver glitter, and gold.
The P40 Pro + comes in a clay finish with a white or black finish. Huawei claims to use nanotechnology beads and is pressed into powder, then baked for 5 days at 1500 degrees to give it "sapphire strength and" diamond appearance.
Although most flag phones come with high water resistance, the P40 is still low at IP53 (dust protected but not strong, and able to withstand water shortages). Currently, the Pro models are completely dustproof and waterproof with IP68.
Standard Specification for P40
To complete, here is a list of shared features of all Huawei P40 series models:
- Kirin 990 processor
- Wi-Fi 6
- NFC
- 5G
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- Fingerprint scanner
- USB-C
What should I buy for P40?
If you take a good look at the phones, the standard P40 is an attractive model because of all the features and features it has.
That is, a larger screen, additional image capabilities, wireless charging, and faster cable charging. However, those who want a smaller size and want to use less will have to go for the standard P40, which is not a bad phone at all.
Choosing between Pro models is very difficult as it is very similar in every way. We can say that the P40 Pro is the right choice unless you really want the Pro + ceramic finish and you will benefit from its superior cameras.
