We’re up against the first custom-designed graphics card, based on the AMD RX 6900 XT, designed by the folks at GIGABYTE.
The AMD RX 6900 XT is the largest and most powerful graphics card in the RX 6000 series based on AMD’s own RDNA 2 architecture, among its specifications, support for variable rate shading and hardware ray tracing, all with an 80 compute unit configuration and the powerful Infinity Cache.
All of this means that graphics cards based on the latest AMD architecture can achieve high clock speeds, which is leveraged by this custom GIGABYTE model.

The aesthetic of the RX 6900 XT GAMING OC is very similar to the GAMING OC model based on the RX 6800 XT, which is not surprising since both use the same PCB, since we are talking about two graphics cards based on the Navi 21 chip and the same amount of memory and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory at 16 Gbps on a 256-bit bus.
Being a custom card the only thing that follows the standard AMD design is the GPU itself and the VRAM, the rest of the card has been customized by GIGABYTE. Among its unique elements is a fully customized PCB,
Its cooling system has three aluminum fins which are threaded by six copper heat pipes with a thickness of 6 mm, these come into contact with the GPU and VRAM via a copper plate, while at the same time a secondary plate extracts the heat emitted by the VRMs. It also has three WINDFORCE 3X fans with alternating rotation between them.
Ability to achieve high clock speeds
What sets the GIGABYTE RX 6900 XT OC apart from its little sister is the fact that its VRM configuration has been improved, which is to be expected as the card uses 3 PCI Express 8 pin connectors like the rest of the AMD RX 6900 XT based graphics cards, while the AMD RX 6800 XT based configurations use two PCIe slots as standard.
But the similarities end there, Since the GIGABYTE model can reach 2250 MHz in Game Clock and 2285 MHz in Boost Clock, it also has an increased power consumption limit compared to the standard AMD design. This speed can be affected through the BIOS provided by default, but if what we need at times is for the GPU to calm down, we can enable silent BIOS anytime. since we are facing a graph with a dual BIOS configuration.
Another difference in terms of features of this RX 6900 XT OC compared to the standard AMD model is that the USB-C port has been replaced and this card has two HDMI 2.1 video outputs and two DisplayPort 1.4a outputs.
