When NVIDIA first unveiled the BFGD monitors it was a bit confusing when it comes to defining the technical features that this type of monitor should comply with this "standard", so next we will tell you everything you need to know about these types of products
What are BFGD monitors?
BFGD comes from the dictionary of «Great Gatform Format Shows«, Or screens for large format games. In other words and as a summary, they are monitors with large objects and gaming, far from the standard 24, 27 or 32 inches of size that are most common in PC Gaming.
The idea for this range, as we said it was created by NVIDIA, is to combine the best features of high-quality televisions with the best game monitors on customized panels together AU Optronics, so that many enthusiasts can enjoy the games at their highest level.
But not just any big game monitor connector that can carry BFGD, because that is must be associated with a large number of specific symptoms.
Compulsory technical features
Any invigilator with a BFGD label must meet the following criteria:
- The size should be 65 centimeters (do not specify more than this acceptable size).
- Your panel should have a 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels).
- It should adhere to the HDR10 standard, which means it should have a maximum light of at least 1000 nits.
- Your refresh rate should be 120 Hz or higher.
- Your DCI-P3 color spectrum coverage should be 100%.
- Must have NVIDIA G-Sync technical support.
The result of the combination of all these features is undoubtedly impressive both for playing and watching movies. In this last respect, it is worth mentioning the fact that although there are several televisions in the market with 120 Hz (inconsistent but true), most are "covered" at 60 Hz and the refresh rate is unchanged.
This is interesting to know because although the movies are well made at 24 Hz, the television can force them to play at 60 Hz, even when a new standard is used HDMI 2.1, televisions will start to support a different refresh rate.
The last factor to consider in BFGD screens is that, as you can imagine, most are blocking price and that means an obstacle to reach all viewers. While the 27-inch monitor at 144 Hz and high G-Sync is priced at around 500 euros, these BFGD monitors cost four times as much.
