2K has announced that XCOM: Chimera squad, the new leading theme in the XCOM award-winning series, is set to launch digitally on Windows PCs on April 24, 2020.
Established five years after the events of XCOM 2, the people, descendants and aliens are now working together to build a cooperative and cohesive civilization. However, not all inhabitants of the Earth support the unity between species. City 31, a model of peace in a post-war country, opposes secret groups whose agendas threaten to end this powerful alliance. The Chimera squad, a high-ranking army of people, hybrids, and aliens, should work together to eliminate the underground threats that make the city anarchy.
"We have been inspired by our passionate community and excited about the opportunity to create a flexible, unique and unique XCOM experience for both our fans and players in the XCOM: Chimera squad," he said. Steve Martin, President of Firaxis Sports.
"With XCOM: The Chimera squad, we felt that there were still great opportunities to get inside the XCOM space," he said. Mark Nauta, Executive Producer of Firaxis Games. "Gameplay like Breach mode, modified order, and introducing agents as fully developed characters will change the way the game is played while preserving the combat experience that makes the XCOM series so popular with gaming worldwide."
XCOM: The Chimera squad includes the following:
- Individual and external agencies: each of the 11 agents has their own unique personality and abilities, including attacks against species such as the serpent's tongue;
- Full & Special Classes: Perform destructive combos by assembling the appropriate agents and using cooperative techniques. The difference between mission success and failure may be entirely dependent on team formation;
- Strategic warfare has been reconsidered– Reports are organized as a series of discreet and explosive encounters, keeping the action dynamic and unexpected;
- Breach mode– Players will build a battlefield in their place with a new combat phase that injures the action teams. They will set up strategic plans at different entry points and coordinate their attack plans with specific Broker capabilities;
- Shafts included: the automated system will install individual agents and enemies respectively, creating new strategic opportunities based on what the unit will operate next, and which unit is most at risk when doing so;
- The Background of a Thinking Strategy: In addition to combat, players will manage the operation of a world-class headquarters, where they must prioritize competing tasks, investigating and assigning agents ahead of the clock: a constant increase in rivals in various regions of the city, driving City 31 closer to total congestion.
