More than a year after its release, Gearboxs was a cartoonishly violent booty shooter Border areas 3 will apparently get crossplay for all platforms soon … except for PlayStation.
“An update for Borderlands 3 has been prepared for release that includes full cross-play support for all platforms,” said Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox wrote in a tweet this morning. “Bad news: For certification we had to remove crossplay support for PlayStation consoles from the publisher.”

But The edge written downThe lack of crossplay on PlayStation 4 and 5 could be due to Sony’s guidelines on crossplay certification. In 2018, Sony gave in to requests for and allowed to Crossplay between PlayStation games and versions of those games on o ther platforms though the process did not run smoothly
Previously in 2019 Border areas 3 launched, Pitchford specified cross-platform play would be added Border areas 3. Last year when the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions of the Gearbox game were announced kicked the can a bit down the street. Still in February players inquired via crossplay support.

Read between the lines whatever you want – whether that’s because Sony charges exorbitant certification fees, 2K is rejecting those fees, or just Randy Pitchford being Randy Pitchford – it seems Border areas 3 For the time being, Crossplay will only be available for PC and Xbox. Whatever the reasons, this is a total disappointment Border areas 3 plays much better on PS5 than anywhere else thanks to the fancy adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller.
Sony, Gearbox and Border areas Publisher 2K did not immediately respond to requests for comments from Kotaku.
