When Katie realized there was a tent camping Crossing the Animals: New Horizons, he was excited to see what villager was waiting for inside. But when he opened the trunk to find it, he recovered. “Well, heck no,” he said.
He was present: Pietro, a smug photographer. Popular among Animal Crossing fans, the colored sheep is the first public enemy when it comes to hate citizens. But Katie was not alone. Over his shoulder, his 72-year-old mother watched him play – a life-long simyllic Life simulator turned into a strong bond between the two women during the coronavirus epidemic. As far as Katie's mother was concerned, her daughter was very cruel.
“She might be very pretty,” said her mother. "You are a victim to him." My mother later argued that Pietro "just wanted a place to live," and that Katie should not "abandon people."
So Katie was anointed to accept the joke on her island. It was a reluctant agreement. He did not like what Pietro's genius looked like, or how his house power sounded. Never before had a friend invited his attention to the feelings of sheep with his painted face starting to change.
The friend, who thought Pietro was a demon, started digging holes outside the clown's house so he couldn't get out of the area.
Katie recalls: “I felt very protective of poor Pietro. Of course, he didn't as but a lover of the giants. That, said, was the time he started warming up until he came to the sheep in a flash of glory. She started giving him presents, and eventually realized that whatever happened, Pietro was always nice and nice to him. Before long, he began to love the little boy.
Maybe her mom was into something after all.
Animal Crossing fans have strong feelings about certain citizens – popular ones can go through millions of bells, but the unloved characters are misrepresented, or worse, abused. Pietro falls into the last camp. Old memories about comedians saw people pulling a poor sheep from a hole and pretending it was his grave. However, most people don't like Pietro. One actor, Samuel, tells Polygon that Pietro's appearance on his island has put a strain on his relationship, because his girlfriend, who shares the island with him, can't see the color.
Pietro has his protectors – people who think he is misunderstood or mistreated. Part of it is tradition, judging my conversations with many people who are devoted to Pietro.
According to Animal Crossing player Allie, many fans are "worried about having a beautiful island that includes good citizens & # 39; good & # 39 ;, and Pietro falls outside that category."
New HorizonsExtended customization options have fostered a culture of complete control over their island – and Pietro's presence extends to this, according to his followers.
"The beauty of Pietro is very clear and very controversial in whatever style (players) had on their island," said Pietro's sponsor Edward. "Pietro's presence requires you to synchronize at least ONE time on your island to look your best."
This whole clown thing is also useless – many people have phobias in this case. Western pop culture tends to classify clowns as ugly or bizarre, rather than being what they are you should to be a source of happiness.
"Once people start making jokes about you by eating kids, it's very difficult for an artist to take away his or her reputation," says Pietro Ryan.
Perhaps it is not surprising to hear that most of the people I spoke to who believe in Pietro's power did not originate that way. Many of them, like Katie, found Pietro as their first settler. New Horizons it forces players to welcome the first campers to their people no matter what, and while you can continue to get these animals out, you still have to let them roam for at least a few days. And once you get to know the dancer, it turns out he's not as bad as the invitations make him.
"From & # 39; who is this miserable woman in my town & # 39; yes & # 39; oh no, I love her, & # 39;" Ben, at first unhappy with Pietro, tells Polygon.
But the unfortunate mishap also helped to pump some blood pumping in the broader effort to revive Pietro, where fans embraced the light dance as much as possible. One player I spoke to, Callie, says she used 2 million bucks, in addition to Nook Miles tickets, to buy Pietro. And once Pietro is still on the island, many fans continue to build him sacred shrines or dedicated places.
New Horizons Actress Laura, for example, has an island with ancient themes – some of her fellow villagers include Knox and Sterling, chickens dressed as knights. And fixing the look means having a court joke. Enter Pietro. "You have the largest yard on my island," Laura said.
Nathan, another player I spoke to, says he has built a theme park inspired by Disney World, so, Clown's presence has been granted.
"Pietro almost reminded me of the queen of how big and smart she is," Nathan, who identifies as a queue, tells Polygon. “It's nice to see Pietro as a smuggler, Bianca Del Riogood personality on my island. ”
Elise Favis, a Washington Post reporter, has gone on to build the Pietro Mountains. It comes out equipped with a carnival, market, and cemetery.
"Whenever someone visits and asks why Pietro has his grave, I applaud and say they should ask him about it," jokes Java.
Players who spend time with Pietro say they have many fond memories of the joke – moments, they say, if other players can find them, they can make a statement that the clown is a bad citizen.
New Horizons aficionado Rainy remembers a time when they wanted to give Pietro a balloon hat, which seemed to perfectly match the clown's beauty. However, by complete accident, Rainy gave Pietro a black coat instead. It looked awful. Rainy complained to Isabelle about Pietro's dress in hopes of changing her wardrobe. The rain even tried to give her plenty of clothes – all to no avail.
"I have learned to accept that you want to be a goth clown," Rainy said.
Simon, another acquaintance of Pietro, remembers looking at his art gallery recently, which is a new addition to the show. Most players have a few pieces you can put on the wall, if at all. And that same day, Simon found Pietro wandering the museum halls.
"It was nothing but he was using the best of it!" Said Simon.
Many people note that Pietro's inner world seems strangely complex. Ryan remembers a time when Pietro described the two of them as "secret people," which made him the "most honest" person in the world.
"Yes, his signature was soon followed by & # 39; honk honk, & # 39;" continued Ryan. “I think that's why I love her now. He may find himself as a skier, a climber, or a tyrant to others, but to me it seems like an act. This is how Pietro deals with the world. "
At one point, at Elise & # 39; s Animal Crossing, Pietro presented her with a "Terrible Drawing" based on a Japanese blocking printer. When Elise took the face work from Blaze the owl, she discovered the clip was not fake. For some, this could be Pietro's strike, a symbol of the fire of his mistakes. But for Elise, the bars really show a deep understanding between her and the clown. Scary Painting forgery, as it turns out, is taken care of – which means that when players look at it, a model that emphasizes the image flashes them.
“You find me,” said Elise. “She likes spooky things, like me. & # 39; Scary Drawing & # 39; it is a wonderful gift. ”
Pietro is very good when he is bored, defense officials said. Pietro's follower Maxwell vividly remembers the occasion when Pietro mentioned that he somehow made a sandwich of cheese made from candy in his house.
New Horizons committed to Onnolee, meanwhile, once tried to make Pietro's idea of "gay rights." Onnolee is a line, too, and figures that "any sheep that grazes must not be afraid of unpleasant sexual norms."
When Pietro received that piece of information, he became mad and said he didn't like that idea. Onnolee's heart sank.
"I've changed well and I know that yes, he's a line of code and he can't make a cartoon game, but even so, I had a moment of legitimate fear," recalls Onnolee. But when Onnolee continued the conversation, Pietro made it clear that he didn't like the thing because he did popular it. "He knocked on the park with his announcement of support," Onnolee said.
For players like Onnolee, Pietro's status as a formidable character is a low hanging fruit of society. The fans like to tease him with some of the supposedly bad citizens just because he's a funny guy, so ignore that he has "a well-defined color palette and a curved," Onnolee said.
But when people give Pietro a chance, they often find that they are wrong about him. Such was the case with Kathryn, a player who "terrified the clowns" and was therefore shocked when Pietro first appeared on his island. Before long, however, her heart softened toward this distinguished chief. Now he says he feels depressed when Pietro wakes up one day and asks to leave.
"I've always been very subtle – I've had bad teeth, bad breath, and I'm overweight," said Kathryn. “There were many times when I was alone at lunch or at conventions because nobody wanted to be with me.
“When I saw that I was throwing that at Pietro, it broke my heart. No one, not even pixels, should be made to feel bad about us. ”
