With the use of Discord during the COVID-19 outbreak, the VOIP and chat service is rolling out an update that will reduce background noise that interrupts voice calls.
Discord announced the feature yesterday; It is in beta for Desktop versions of the Discord app, with mobile versions joining later. An audio background domain, built in conjunction with Crisp.ai, will block sounds from the laundry, door locks, or the main keyboard as users type in during chat.
The new feature comes as Discord reports an increase in daily consumption, from January to April, from 50% in the United States to nearly 250% in Italy. France and Spain, the other nations most affected by the spread of the novel coronavirus, appear to have increased about 150 percent.
D iscord says they have responded to the demand with the need to expand their Go Live service – which allows users to stream or share performance services to a private audience – from 10 to 50 users per session. The company said it also suggested Discord's ability to deliver smooth services. High user preferences have briefly reduced most of their servers in the center of Marc, where Discord reported a 20% increase.
The sound suppression feature is accessed through a button located in any voice or video window. There is also to turn the Crisp setting on / off in the settings menu, under the app settings: Voice & Video: Enhanced: Noise Pressure.
Discord started life as a communication tool for video gaming communities, but Go Live has been a great help in educational programs and workplaces with the majority of the community meeting in their homes.
