Close your eyes and imagine a cat. A fluffy cat purring in the afternoon sun. Now imagine if the cat can speak. How does it sound Cute as a button? Maybe a little naughty? Nothing like Shao Kahn, former Emperor of Outworld and main opponent of Mortal Kombat Franchise, right? Well that’s the way No more heroes 3 because, as we all know, director Goichi “Suda51” Suda a crazy person.
After it E3 2021 Nintendo delivered demos for upcoming games as part of its treehouse sessions. No more heroes 3
Still, it’s hard to complain when the company has uploaded nearly half an hour of footage for the upcoming game to YouTube, especially when that footage includes a short snippet of Ike Amadi. who played Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 11said Travis’ cat Jeane. Just make sure you turn up the volume or you won’t hear him over the occasional comment from Nintendo’s Bill Trinen.
I don’t know about you, but I love it.
No more heroes 3 continues the story of Travis Touchdown, who somehow managed to become a world-renowned assassin over the course of the last two games despite being a complete loser. (Okay, the lightsaber probably had something to do with it, but I’m digressing.) Suda51 felt it appropriate to revive the franchise that made him a household name in 2019 Travis strikes again
Although she was constantly present in previous games, Jeane the cat was never an important part of the No more heroes Story up Travis strikes again. The side story gave her a voice the text-based visual novel inserts, in which she chats regularly with Travis, but it wasn’t until the credits of the main game that we got spoiled. Up until this point, Jeane had been content to hang around and meow in Travis’ apartment, so it was quite a surprise that she could speak.
Fun fact: Jeane’s only line of spoken dialogue in Travis strikes again (She’s the one who says, “Shut up, I can’t sleep” in the video above, by the way) was apparently recorded by Kris Zimmerman-Salter, who was in charge of the casting and voice direction for the game.
G / O Media can receive a commission
Not a word about what happened to Jeane that her voice has changed so dramatically in the two years that lie in between Travis strikes again and No more heroes 3. Maybe it has something to do with the alien invasion of Earth, or maybe it’s just another eccentricity from Suda51. It’s way too punk rock to be held back by things like continuity and traditional voice overs.
Maybe we’ll find out more when No more heroes 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch on August 27th.
