From December 12 at 6 a.m. to December 13 at 10 p.m. in your local time, Community Day benefits of Community Days 2019 and 2020 will return Pokémon Go.
All featured Pokémon have higher spawn rates throughout the event, with certain Pokémon having higher spawn rates on Saturday and Sunday. Some Pokémon are more likely to show up in raids and hatch from eggs rather than spawning all weekend.
Which Pokémon have increased spawn rates?
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently:
Weedle, Abra, Gastly, Rhyhorn, Seedot and Piplup have an even higher spawn rate on December 12th from 11am to 5pm in your local time. Charmander, Electabuzz, Magmar, Magikarp, and Porygon have a higher spawn rate from 11am to 5pm in your local time on December 13th.
The following Pokémon appear during raids and hatch from two-kilometer-long eggs:
How do I get a shiny Pokémon?
The Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon is increased, but because of the multitude of spawns, it can be difficult to find a specific Shiny that you may have missed before. At least tap on every Community Day Pokémon you see to see if it’s shiny. If you keep tapping them, you will eventually find one.
What special moves do the Pokémon learn?
If you evolve any of the following Pokémon during the Event Period, they will learn the following special moves:
If you don’t already have a Swampert, Blaziken, Sceptile, Feraligatr, Salamence, Torterra, Infernape or Empoleon with these traits, you should try grabbing one. The Community Day Moves for these Pokémon are extremely powerful!
How can I get the most out of this community weekend?
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in your local time on both days, the amount of stardust when catching Pokémon is doubled and the egg brood distance is halved. That being said, make sure you lay eggs in incubators and catch as many Pokémon as you can during the event. Consider using a star piece to increase your stardust gains even further.
Make sure you have completed the timed research for an Elite ChargedTM that can normally only be purchased with coins. You can use these TMs to teach your Pokémon legacy moves that can no longer be learned. So it’s definitely worth grabbing.
Many of the Community Day moves for the featured Pokémon are good for PvP, but the must-have among all of these is Salamence with Outrage. If you don’t want to attend too much, at least grab one of these. You’re pretty damn strong.
At the end of the day, if you decide to go with Shiny, use one of the new search strings. Sort your mons byrecently“Use the icon at the bottom right and enter”4 *”In the search box above. This will tell you if you have 100% IV Pokémon. Most people won’t be that lucky, so next you want to “3 *”In the search box that shows all current mons that are 80% or more. Rate these to see which one is best, then develop your new buddy further!
