Witches for the new game development on the Coast, Archetype Entertainment, have replaced another BioWare defender: Drew Karpyshyn, lead author on Great Outcome and Major Outcome 2 and a great writer on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Karpyshyn worked at BioWare for more than 18 years, according to her LinkedIn profile, and joins former colleagues James Ohlen and Chad Robertson at the Archetype. On his private website
"When I started at BioWare, everything was new and exciting," wrote Karpyshyn. “It was a dream job – talented people working together to create epic games like Baldur Gate, KOTOR, Great Outcome and Dragon Age. But as we grew and became more successful, things changed. We became more united. We couldn't do what we liked, and teams were pressured to create games based on market research rather than our creative desires and passions. My dream job became a chore, and I lost all the enthusiasm and joy I had.
“But with the Archetype, my love revived. The experience in the studio reminds me of my early days at BioWare; I feel the magic in the air. And even though I don't go too deep into defining what we're working on, we are already generating a lot of excitement in the industry. ”
Wizards of the Coast announced in 2019 that it plans to build a new sports development studio, and hired James Ohlen (Baldur Gate, Dragon Age, star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) to use a company based in Austin, Texas. In January, the studio was filmed by Archetype Entertainment.
The Archetype plot project is described as a multi-role play "set in a new science fiction universe that will send players to a story-driven epic where the decisions they make will have real consequences for how their stories happen." set outside of Wizards & Dragons and Magic: Gathering Frontise.
