Koei Tecmo launched Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout at the end of last year and the game was surprisingly successful in Japan and even generated a very particular community in the West. Now, a year and a half later they will release the sequel with basically the same characters and today a new trailer has been published that makes it clear that they will continue the story directly.
The world of Atelier is very similar to that of other JRPGs, a fictional era that copies Victorian styles, magic (in this case alchemy) and a very marked high fantasy context. In this case Ryza and her group of friends will visit the city of Ashra-am Baird to try to solve a mystery that began the first installment.
Main count
In this game, Ryza leaves his native island, Kurken, for the first time in search of taking control of his life. She is accompanied by Lent and Tao, friends from her childhood, who accompany her on a journey that will bring them together with other characters such as Klaudia, Lila and Empel. It is the latter who tell Ryza about alchemy, a concept around which the entire history of Atelier revolves.
With the new knowledge about alchemy Ryza return to Kurken and discover that the island is in danger thanks to an ancient energy. History reveals that alchemy can not only be used for good, so the group must begin a journey to save the reality they know.
The story will continue in this sequel that we do not know if it will close the narrative line or continue to lengthen it to make Atelier a saga like other JRPGs,
At the end of the trailer it is also revealed that by pre-purchasing the game you will receive summer skins for the characters, a straw hat for Ryza and another classic skin if you have a game of the first saved game.
Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy will be available on January 26 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC.
