Sony has presented its new virtual reality controllers for PS5. These controls move away from the lines of the current PlayStation Move to focus on ergonomics. In addition, they take the best of the DualSense to offer a more realistic gaming experience with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. They will be seamlessly integrated into the VR headset that will arrive in the future.
“Our Product, Engineering and Design teams have collaborated to build the controls from the ground up, with the goal of taking a giant leap from today’s generation of virtual reality games. We are delighted with the controls we develop.

The official statement company claims that its new drivers allow «feel and interact with games in a much more intense way«. This is possible thanks to a number of features inherited from the current PS5 controller, DualSense.
For example, each remote has adaptive triggers. These offer tension to the force exerted when pressed. Sony’s idea is to apply the same mechanics of the DualSense L2 or R2 buttons, but focused on virtual reality experiences.
With the new virtual reality controllers for PS5 you can ‘feel and touch without pressing’
As we anticipated, the virtual reality controllers for PS5 also have haptic feedback. It is a system that seeks to make the brain believe that it is experiencing a real-world situation. “When you traverse a rocky desert or exchange blows in close combat, you will feel the difference, maximizing the extraordinary visual and audio experience,” explains Sony.
Another outstanding feature of the new virtual reality controllers for PS5 is the finger detection without pressing. And, as you can see from the images, each control will feature classic buttons, an analog joystick, and triggers.
While Sony does not plan to launch its virtual reality headset this year and has not yet revealed its design or characteristics, it has anticipated that it will track the virtual reality controllers through a tracking ring located at the bottom of the controller.
We still do not have a date for the official launch of the new virtual reality controllers for PS5, but Nishino says they will soon make them available to developers.
