The first month of Sony’s new generation is over and the Japanese company has published the list of the best-selling titles of November
The new generation brought two AAA’s with them, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls, both of which enter the list of most downloaded games with ease. It is striking that on PlayStation 5 it is the best seller, while on PlayStation 4 it ranks third.
COD and FIFA do not disappoint
The protagonist on both platforms and continents, as expected, is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The Activision game is only relegated to second place in America and PlayStation 5, the rest is number one in digital sales. Nobody coughs to COD that it has remained the best-selling game year after year for more than a decade.
On PS5 in America, Demon’s Souls, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and NBA 2K21 Next Generation round out the top 5, as Europeans swap the game of basketball for Watch Dogs: Legion. Lastly, Sackboy and Godfall enter the top 10 in both regions which are later complemented by indie titles such as The Pathless, Maneater and Observer: System Redux.
The resurgence of Borderlands 3 and No Man’s Sky is also curious, while Mortal Kombat 11 remains firm and is once again one of the best-selling games of the year.
The old generation market
For its part, the PS4 games are much more familiar COD, Miles Morales and AC Valhalla are the best sellers, but we already see the usual NBA 2K21, FIFA 21, Madden NFL 21, Ghost of Tsushima, GTA V, Minecraft and Red Dead Redepmtion 2. In Europe, basketball and American football are not so popular so those are exchanged for others like Gran Turismo and Fall Guys.
Lastly, the DLCs and the VR market does not change. Beat Saber remains the most popular virtual reality game while Fortnite packs and the new Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack lead sales in DLCs.
Sony’s first month with the new generation looks good for PS5, although PS4 is still very strong and probably has more sales than its newborn sister for a few months.
