Square Enix has terminated the accounts of nearly 6,000 Final Fantasy 14 players following an investigation into real money trading.
In an investigation which ran from February 25 to March 3, 2021, Square’s investigation “confirmed the existence of players engaging in these illicit activities,” resulting in the banning of 5,851 accounts; 5037 to engage in prohibited activities or real money trading, and another 814 for “real money trading advertising.”
Square Enix says: “Real money trading (RMT) and other illicit activities upset the balance of the game and as such are prohibited by the Terms of Service.”
“Players who discover confirmed cheats must not, under any circumstances, exploit or disseminate such information,” says the statement (via: PCGN). Instead, we ask players to report using the in-game command. [Menú del sistema] -> [Soporte técnico] -> [Contáctenos] -> [Informar trampas].
Also, any RMT announcements witnessed can be reported by right-clicking on the character’s name in the chat log and selecting the menu. [Informe] -> [Informar actividad de RMT]. The report will be processed automatically, and if it is determined that RMT Advertising is included, the comments of the reported character will be restricted. ” The publisher said it will “continue to take strict disciplinary action against any account with confirmed involvement in RMT / illicit activity.”
