In accordance with NieR’s official account On Twitter, this new gameplay trailer is specially designed for those who want to see the title in motion before buying it. We had certainly seen l ittle of this Nier Replicant relaunch, so these 10 minutes of gameplay come in handy.
Recall that NieR Replicat see. 1.22474487139 … not a remake according to Squere, apparently it is an “improved” re-release (although it sounds like a remake) of NieR Replicant. The first game in the series has a curious history since in Japan it was called NieR Gestalt, while in the West it has the name Replicant. They are the same game, but the protagonist changes his age, as does the person he must rescue (sister or wife depending on the region).
Standardizing the saga
This new version comes to “merge” both versions, it seems that we are left with the youngest protagonist in search of his sister. An indeterminate year runs in this world and humanity as such has become extinct, now different beings called “shadows” dominate the earth and our protagonist must explore and advance through different areas in search of a cure for a disease that his sister contracted.
This first NieR did not receive good reviews, unlike Automata that has good reviews in all media. So it looks like Square Enix wants to repeat what it did well with NieR: Automata in the prequel, so the gameplay is more like Automata than the original game. That is, action in the third person, but much more polished.
In the trailer we visit a place called “Barren Temple” in search of a princess that our protagonist needs something from. Beyond that we face a couple of enemies and a very curious boss, we have already been able to verify that voices like Laura Bailey and Liam O ‘Brien are part of the project. Bailey is Kaine and O’Brien is the Weiss Grimoire.
