Our teams remain committed to rooting out cheats and repeat offenders in Call of Duty® y Call of Duty Warzone™. Today, we would like to share the following progress report, which includes aspects of how we work, our research, and more updates.
Our progress
Cheaters are never welcome. To date, our security and compliance team has issued more than 475,000 permanent bans on Call of Duty: Warzone. Yesterday’s big ‘banwave’ was our seventh set of high-volume bans since February.
Additionally, our security and compliance teams also issue bans every day, 7 days a week, to individual or repeat offenses. The combination of daily bans and large-scale ‘banwaves’ are an integral focus of our efforts.
We are also addressing the commercial cheat vendor and reseller market. This includes suspicious accounts, which are cultivated and often sold to repeat offenders. We recently banned 45,000 fraudulent black market accounts used by repeat offenders.
Eliminating cheaters and removing the ability to switch to alternate accounts is a key focus for security teams.
As we mentioned earlier, we have increased our efforts in several key areas:
-
Using 2-factor authentication to make it difficult to access new accounts simply to cheat
-
Increase additional resources to support our security and compliance teams
-
Increased frequency of high volume banwaves, plus our daily ban of repeat offender counts
-
Improve regular communications and updates
How we work
Some have asked if we issue hardware bans. We issue hardware bans against repeat or serial cheaters. This is an important part of our effort to combat repeat offenders.
Investigation
Recently, the security research team published a report on malware hidden as a “dropper” in a fake hack that was offered for sale. If you missed it, you can read the full report here: https://research.activision.
Upgrades
As security and compliance teams continue to address cheating through compliance, prevention, investigation, and technology, we will continue to share constant updates on our progress.
Again, there is no place to cheat. Providing a fun and fair experience for all players is our top priority. On behalf of all the teams in our security and compliance groups Call of Duty® that they cover Warzone, Modern Warfare Y Black Ops, we will not rest and we appreciate your patience.
