Morimasa Sato, director of Re: Village, has granted a interview with IGN in which he talked a bit about the development process of the game and in which he revealed the first look at Mother Miranda, who was finally that masked character that we mentioned a few days ago.
The game is only a month away from its premiere and its promotional material is increasingly present, today we have to talk about Miranda and the game map. You can click on this link and see the image at 1440p to see all the details of that map that we can find even within the game.
Snow and religion
There are four great locations: Castle Dimitrescu, the one we’ve seen the most in demos and trailers, House Beneviento, Heisenberg’s Factory, and Moreau’s Reservoir. According to the director of the game, the snow will be present in several locations and this is because, as developers, they traveled to various parts of Europe in search of inspiration.
However, an unexpected climate change caused it to be colder than usual and they saw the same landscapes with snow, so they decided to incorporate it into the design of the levels and the gameplay.
On the other hand, we could see Mother Miranda, at least a portrait of her that continues to show her masked, but now her role is much more religious. In fact, Sato admits that the “Mother” that precedes her name is clearly to refer to the adoration that the game people feel for her. It’s clearly important, which is why they also revealed this image with the three most important characters.
Sato commented that the baby Chris is holding is Ethan’s daughter and that his goal is to rescue her. In addition, Ethan will still not have a face, although he revealed that they put a lot of effort in recreating his clothes and that we will even notice some surprises in the cinematics.
Finally, Miranda occupies almost the entire lower part of the image and this Sato commented about it:
“The mask looks like a crow’s beak. As a symbol of horror, the crows also function as a theme for the Village as a whole, and appear in the actual game. Since she has a symbolic role within the village, we implemented the same design theme for Mother Miranda ”.
Resident Evil: Village will be released on May 7 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. A demo is also expected for all platforms that will probably be released on April 13.
