Village of Análisis Resident Evil 8
Who was going to tell me that I would end up analyzing survival horror games. It is not an exaggeration when I say that as a child it was more to sleep covered up to the head, even in summer, before any unfamiliar noise I heard. Needless to say, we never looked under the bed when the sun was not in sight. However, with resident Evil I have something special.
I don’t really like watching horror movies. Actually, I don’t know the first name of this Warren who’s so on the billboard, but for the past few years I’ve used to play at least one title in the series. resident Evil, although with the titles already published to have more or less knowledge of the main scares (and even so, I take them).
With all that said, with Resident Evil 8 Village I took on the challenge of playing completely blind, which was a whole new experience for me. And I have to say that the fears remain, although it may not be as I expected.
A direct sequel to Resident Evil 7
Starting with the story she offers us’Resident Evil 8 Village‘, it should be noted that this continues the events that occurred in the previous installment, reducing to Ethan Winters, who now, instead of saving his wife, must do the same with his 6 month old daughter, Pink, which a satanic cult kidnapped. I won’t go into too much detail to avoid spoilers, but as far as the plot goes, the the best word to define it is unstable.
The latter is mainly due to the fact that being more focused on the action, this one and the exciting moments (although they can get implausible) trump the story when they are present, giving rise to many long journeys without advancing in the plot, but in that we will be from one shoot to another, which could clash a little with the purest of the saga.
However, if history prevails for anything, it is by inspiration from the classics that many will recognize. For example, if in Resident Evil 7 You could see the influence of Saw or The Hills Have Eyes, this time it’s the vampires, Frankenstein, werewolves, among others, those who give their greatest juice to history, this being a delight for the lover of the genre.
I go back to the first person, but more linear
Likewise, the fact of being a sequel to the previous numbered installment does not only come from the hand of its history, but also from its mechanics and, above all, from the use of the first person, which was not quite clear. after the sight of the shoulder that we had in the remakes of the 2nd and 3rd installments of the saga. This being the trend of the genre for years, it must be said that Capcom, once again, managed to adapt it perfectly to the mechanics of resident Evil and go beyond simple jumpscares.
However, something that has not been so respected in its legacy has been the flashback, thus crafting a title that often sins to be too linear and even corridor. In fact, the glimpses of going back to unlock things in most cases are limited to side things that will allow us to improve ourselves, but that won’t add much to the plot. Those who come from the Resident Evil 2 police station will regret it.
Also, another of his great sins goes through puzzles, a mechanic very present in the saga since Antiquity. In the case of Resident Evil 8 Village, the problem is twofold, because there are few at the same time that they do not require too many complications.
Action in its purest form
Despite all the above, do not think that this is why the title is about to be suspended, but on the contrary, since it is about a very, very enjoyable game, although it might not be as some might expect. For starters, we have the basic enemy fights, which will be dynamic and require nerves of steel to be successful. And if that’s not enough, there are also the bosses.
The battles are simply spectacular, showing a staging to match anything we will see in the title. Maybe the only sin comes from some confrontations in which, except on a few occasions, they will be shooting damaged sponges that yes or yes they will end up falling. Flea management will be safe there, but it may not be as relevant as it used to be.
Likewise, since I mentioned the subject of the staging, it must be said that the decor that was recreated in Resident Evil Village it is spectacular. It’s not just how amazingly good the RE engine is on either platform anymore, but on Capcom They knew how to make the most of it to make us feel at all times in their world. Both in the landscapes and in the characters, a work of 10 has been produced, which is accompanied by a more than sublime dubbing in Spanish, without neglecting the soundtrack, fully immersive.
¿Merece la pena Resident Evil 8 Village?
Being my first “virgin” experience with the survival horror genre, I must say that Resident Evil 8 Village It was an experience as pleasant as the previous ones, even if it will perhaps not be placed in the Olympus of the saga as the remake of the 2nd opus could be in its time. During the 12 hours of the first match, I repeatedly felt the tension of the moment, even though there are ups and downs.
It is by far one of those titles that will continue to be played beyond its launch, as it gives a lot to talk about in the weeks to come. This may fail in the scary section, because if you don’t know what resident Evil You don’t go with the strain that it demands over and over again, but that doesn’t take away from its merits of any kind.
Finally, knowing that Capcom usually throws the resident Evil For the trilogies, you just have to wait and see what they end up surprising us with, since, being a title that closes the story of Ethan Winters, they have the perfect opportunity to surprise their fans in an unimaginable way. Having said that, it is time for you to face Mother Miranda.
