A new leak from Genshin Impact claims that players can expect a double character update in February, when Xiao and “Weiwei” are supposed to arrive.
Leaker NEP NEP shares that the five-star character introduced as of February 3, 2021, will be the owner of Electro Vision named Weiwei. Xiao, the spear-wielding five-star Anemo, will be introduced later starting on February 24. As NEP NEP pointed out, leaks should be viewed with caution.
First of all, “Weiwei” may be a mistranslation, according to the leaker’s own follow-up tweet. That said, the Genshin Impact character will apparently be an Electro Claymore user, coming alongside a four-star Anemo wizard named Mimiko. On the other hand, the long-awaited Adeptus Xiao is supposed to arrive alongside a four-star Dendro character named Yaoyao, who, like Mimiko, is rumored to wield catalysts.

“Fevrier” means February in French, so fans may assume that the source of this leak was a French or French-speaking player, but otherwise little is known. Even NEP NEP, the leaker that shares the information, is being cautious. That being said, players should note that such leaks are almost always shared with the “grain of salt” disclaimer, so while this is good to note, it should not be considered indicative of an illegitimate leak.
To that end, players have been aware of a Lantern Festival event, or Festival of Lights, since the beta version of the game, although the original was a March event. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to consider that Xiao, who is rumored to be a festival feature, would perform right before most of the event, or something like that. Aside from Xiao, the Travelers are already aware of the impending arrivals of Ganyu, Albedo, and various other characters, simply by the nature of their existence in the beta and other conveniently lined up leaks.
So, whether Xiao finally arrives on February 24 or not, players can probably be sure that they will be able to wish for Anemo’s character at some point in the near future. They are one of the few unintroduced, but visible characters left in Genshin Impact, so they are sure to join the ranks of money magnets like Zhongli and Tartaglia sooner rather than later.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch.
