The Battlefield franchise has a long history, both in real life and in the game. Over the nearly 20 years that the venerable shooter franchise has existed, players have seen conflicts from WWI (Battlefield 1) to over a century in the future (Battlefield 2142). It may feel like you’ve seen it all, but the Battlefield team has a big surprise up its sleeve. With the upcoming release of Battlefield 2042, the developers put more power than ever in the hands of the players. With a new feature called the Battlefield Portal, fans can create, share, and discover amazing all-new Battlefield experiences
Battlefield Portal is called “Your Battlefield, Your Way” by Electronic Arts and you can see that. At the core, Battlefield Portal gives players the ability to combine elements (including weapons, vehicles, classes, and more) from four different Battlefield games to create a whole new experience. But it goes much deeper than that. Thanks to a robust editor, you can tweak almost every element of the experience and then share those experiences with other Battlefield fans. It would be easier to name this user generated content, but that’s an understatement.
We took a closer look at this at a recent event Battlefield Portal, watch the developers perform a battle between soldiers from the time of World War II Battlefield 1942 and futuristic soldiers from Battlefield 2042. As if that wasn’t cool enough, we watched a bunch of soldiers armed only with knives versus a bunch of warriors only armed with defibrillators. If you have ever played who will win the fight game this is the experience for you.
The four games that Battlefield Portal pulls out are Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and of course) Battlefield 2042. That means you can pull almost anything out of these multiplayer experiences to build anything your heart desires. In addition to weapons and things, each of the games brings some popular cards to the party. You can fight from a total of six maps Battlefield 1942 (Battle of the Bulge and El Alamein), Battlefield 3 (Caspian border and Noshahr canals) and Battlefield Bad Company 2 (Valparaiso and Arica Harbor), as well as all seven All-Out Warfare maps from Battlefield 2042.
Each of these cards supports up to 128 players on the Xbox Series X | S and 64 players on the Xbox One. In addition, all of the old maps will be redesigned and updated with new technology to bring them into the modern age. In the Battle of the Bulge, for example, buildings are now destroyed, while Arica Harbor has an ebb tide that changes the battlefield during a game.
In Battlefield Portal, you can play both Official EA Experiences and player-created Community Experiences. To see the best of the best when it comes to community-created games, there will be a series of curated community experiences selected by EA. If you’re the type of person who enjoys creating as much as it does experience, there’s a good chance you’ll be spending a lot of time in Battlefield Builder.
Basically, Battlefield Builder is a web-based platform that allows developers and gamers to build anywhere. The team felt it was important to make it web-based as this would allow them to patch or update it in a snap and give more people the ability to use it. Hit by inspiration on the bus? Add it to the experience! Battlefield Builder will offer an easy-to-use standard editor and an in-depth logic editor that is more like programming.
While you can create your own game mode from scratch, Battlefield Builder also has many existing game mode templates (including Team Deathmatch and Conquest) that you can tweak and customize to your liking. As an example, our demor shared a Snipers vs. Shotguns game type that they had been working on. There are three different game elements that you can customize: Mode, Series, and General.
In the Mode section, you can choose the basic mode, as I mentioned above, as well as the map you want to play on. In the Settings tab of this section you can change the number of players (both overall and per team). You will actually be able to create asymmetrical teams that will allow you to overpower a single player while battling 127 wimps.
Next came the Series section, where you can choose the games you want to draw teams and factions from. You might want to give it a try BF1942 vs. Bad company 2, or choose factions like Germans vs. USA, where everything that has to do with that faction can be found in the game. You can also toggle certain classes on or off so that paramedics can finally show why they’re superior to engineers. Here you can also choose which weapons will be in the game and which attachments will be supported. Just iron sights, anyone?
Finally, there’s the general section where the real fun takes place. Whether you turn friendly fire on or off for one of the teams, or give them headshot or body shot multipliers, there is a lot you can do here. You can also set skills for each team, such as: B. whether he can sprint or lie down or whether he can use his compass or minimap. One of the most interesting settings was for AI fighters. Not only can you turn on the AI for both sides to sit back and see how things go, but you can even turn it on for one side to make it a PvE experience.
For hardcore creators, there is also a logic-based rule editor that is closer to coding or scripting and allows for very granular rule sets. For example, you can set it so that if a player is shot in the head, their health drops to 100%. This is a very simple example, and it looks like the rules editor is robust enough to allow dedicated gamers to create some pretty wild scenarios.
Battlefield Portal It looks like it will make for a lot of truly memorable experiences that only get better when more YouTubers spend time on it. If what we’ve seen is any indication, rest assured that this is just the beginning.
