On November 21, we were able to access the Project xCloud test and see how the service will be available, currently available only in three countries, in the UK, USA and South Korea. However it was announced during X019 that it would reach many regions when Spain was included. A service that we know very little about, and that many are fixing quickly, is the Xbox Console for streaming.
This will allow us to have our Project xCloud server in our home. With an Internet-connected console, Bluetooth remote control for mobile and Wi-Fi / Mobile data, we can play everything installed on the console immediately, anywhere and wherever we want.
Unfortunately, it is not an extended service in any region, and that legally, only those in the United Kingdom or the United States and those within the ring can install the service. At least, this has been until the past few days, since Microsoft opened the service in all regions.
How to configure Console streaming outside the region
Previous steps for Xbox
The solution we can think of is to use a VPN like Project xCloud. In contrast, here that will no longer be necessary. Also, by making small changes to the console, everything will be available whenever and wherever we want. First there will be a machine inside the system.
For those of you who don't know, it's a series of trial versions in which Microsoft adds all the upcoming news to find out the answer and that the final version of each software reached the best users. Due to the nature of software development, they are looking for ideas at each stage, which makes the system separated by rings.
Last month all the rings from the Alpha-Skip Award to Omega were able to try this service if we were among the active districts. In fact, when we started the application from outside it showed that we were not in the right region and it was time to wait.
Previous steps for our Android phone
To make it work, we need to have an Android device with Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher, which means over 75 percent of the devices will have access. Note that the application is not available on The toy store across regions, we can directly download the APK here. If we had already done it with Project xCloud, it's worth checking out if we have the latest version available, as this will have a Spanish translation.
What can you do to prepare for the Xbox Console streaming?
Once everything is ready, we can start thinking about using the service, which will also be free and will not require a direct invitation from Microsoft.
Once we have done this, we can see how the configuration tab shows the console broadcast tab. Here we can use it after a few tests that will check the connection speed, ping time and NAT type among other details. These only need to get the smallest detail shown by Microsoft.
Once we have done this, we can to enter to the Microsoft streaming service we installed on our mobile phone. The Console streaming option will open, and give us the option of this set up a new Xbox. To do this, you must use the console and have the same session on both devices.
Once configured, we will be given the option to pair the new Xbox controller, or other product type, to control the console. You should know that it is now mandatory to use Xbox wireless controller, does not work otherwise.
Console streaming is a service with amazing results
Since we have configured it, we have been able to do small tests to confirm its effectiveness. The console can be accessed from Wi-Fi or from mobile data. In our case it wasn't easy to test it on a non-Wi-Fi network, even though we knew it should work (and we know the cases of yes).
Like, Microsoft recommends that When we use a Wi-Fi network, communications are made through a 5 Ghz network. It is not a prerequisite, though it will be much better.
The departure of the Xbox One display suggests that, as with Project xCloud, we should think of an immediate response without the hype that comes with playing. However, during testing we realized that games like Forza Horizon 4 could suffer a lot in times when there was a lot of movement.
In this case, and knowing how exciting the game is, we've seen a lot of momentum and it makes us think of a future where a portable Xbox without using Microsoft's servers is possible. Plus, the idea of owning our entire console, without the need for it to be visible and from our mobile can be quite attractive.
We have already seen how none of these services wants to replace the console therefore, although they are very interesting additions that do not deserve attention. With just a few clicks and a bluetooth connection between the remote and the mobile, we can have a portable Xbox. In addition, with accessories like the Razer Junglecat or the new Kishi, we can take up very little space in our travels.
