It’s been 4 days since Xbox and Bethesda presented at E3 2021 and of course a lot of data presented there continues to queue, either because of its impact or because of the interviews that have taken place over late. In this case, it’s Pete Hines, communications and marketing director of Bethesda, who spoke with Gamespot, where he commented on Redfall, the joint conference or Starfield himself.
And is that the fact that a game so awesome, which Todd Howard himself claims has been “25 years in the making”, doesn’t reach the high volume of users that make up the platforms. PlayStation, has penetrated fans, who have severely criticized this decision. To this, Hines responded in her interview, ending with, “I can only say I’m sorry.” It immediately made headlines, as implicitly in the tone of the response, it seemed to refer to Starfield exclusivity. But in the face of the claims, he took to Twitter to categorically deny it:
I do not apologize for the exclusivity.
I “don’t” have to do anything.
Some of our fans are upset / angry, and I’m sorry they are. This is not wrong, nor weird. It’s recognizing what they’re feeling.
That’s it. That’s all my point.– Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) June 16, 2021
Starfield, an Xbox and PC exclusive that will get a lot of talk
The funny thing is that he responds precisely to certain Xbox fans, who say that he should not apologize, when precisely many multiplatforms such as Street Fighter or Final Fantasy are excluded from the console and that no one has lost forgiveness towards the players (on the contrary, rather). Here is your answer:
I do not apologize for the exclusivity. I have nothing to do. Some of our fans are upset or angry and I’m sorry they are. It is not something bad or strange. It’s understanding what they’re feeling. And this is it. It was my intention.
Of course, Pete’s attitude is great in this regard as he not only understands PlayStation fans but also clarifies this point for Xbox fans themselves. And did Todd Howard himself say yesterday that just focusing on Xbox and PC would be something that would benefit development, without having to adapt the title to so many systems.
Starfield will arrive on November 11, 2022 for Xbox Series X | S and PC. Just on the same date that I used The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to release in 2011.
