Sony is withdrawing the decision to close the PS3 and PS Vita stores.
After Sony openly spoke out in favor of putting the store for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games on hold, there was heavy criticism from PlayStation fans. The decision was received with indignation and confusion not only among the fans, but especially among the developers, who only published their games digitally.
Many developers have openly complained that the PlayStation games they worked on that are only available digitally would be lost forever as a result of this move.
But with the numerous criticism came the increasing pressure on Sony. So the company has changed its mind and is now rowing back again.
The PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games will not close after all!
Jim Ryan CEO of Sony Playstation announced: “We recently announced to gamers that the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita devices is due to end this summer. However, if you think about it, it is clear that we made the wrong decision here. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that we will continue to operate the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita devices. The PSP Commerce functionality will expire on July 2, 2021 as planned. “
