The Smurfs or The Smurfs (as they were finally called in Spanish) are characters created by the Belgian designer Peyo for cartoon The Six Smurfs Flute for the weekly Spirou’s Journal the October 23, 1958. The success of these little blue creatures, equivalent to benign gnomes or goblins, was such that the following year they began to star in their own series of comics. Since then, there has been a plethora of films, as well as cartoon series and video games.
