The world of applications is really complex, and there are all kinds of applications. Simple, sophisticated, everyday or specialized applications in specific situations. In any case, each app has a common feature, and in order to have applications, it's important to make requests.
Google has many tools for these purposes. On the other hand we have development sites such as Android Studio or Flutter, tools like Firebase and Google Cloud, but also have tools that aren't overlooked for ordinary citizens. The app maker was one of those tools, though it looks like they will see their end soon.
AppMaker will close its doors, but does it affect you?
AppMaker is a tool you've never heard of, but you may have used some of its tools. What is it is to build very simple systems with very little knowledge of systems and development.
This tool is part of Google's payment package for GSuite organizations, so far it was a very useful tool for those who need special plans for your business. If in your work you should use a highly defined and easy-to-use app, It can work thanks to AppMaker.
These programs have their own marked end, and that Google has announced the final demolition of AppMaker on January 19, 2021, though it will gradually close. This elimination will improve and will come in three phases.
- Today you can continue to use the programs: AppMaker no longer receives maintenance updates but will continue to work.
- As of April 15, 2020 you will not be able to create new applications in AppMaker, even though you will be able to edit and update your existing ones.
- On January 19, 2021 the final closure will be made. From this date, AppMaker-enabled applications will stop working. Databases will continue to work.
And what alternatives will it have
Would it affect me if I use these systems in my work? In the short term it should not, because AppMaker-enabled systems should be able to continue operating for another year. However, if you're using AppMaker in your organization or company, it's time to start looking for alternatives.
When Google closes the door, it leaves three windows open (or something like that), and according to the needs of each business leaves us with several options:
- If you used an App Maker for complex business processes, AppSheet is a new tool for you to consider. Its functionality is similar to the Application Maker and you can also use the information you have created in your app made by Application Maker.
- If you used an App Maker to create apps, Google recommends Google Cloud App Engine. In the same way, you can also use the information of your Maker app information.
- If you have used App Maker for data collection Use of Google Forms is recommended.
