Google Maps becomes a social network and is better than it looks

NinFan December 1, 2020 No Comments

Few of the map applications available in Europe have the caliber of Google Maps. The Google Maps app has become a simple GPS driving app. With its information on all types of trips (including public transport) and information on local businesses, it has become a must-have for almost any type of user.

What is the next step? Well, that seems to turn the map app into a social network. Not a social network like the ones you can think of (Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok or Facebook) but a social network according to its own definition.

Google Maps launches its own social network

One of the key aspects of Google Maps is its platform Local guides, users who upload content to the Maps app. This way, when we look at information about a restaurant, we can see photographs taken by users, in order to get an idea of what the site we are going to visit looks like. According to Google, these users make around 20 million contributions per day, and all of this information can be used more effectively than just posting it in the places we search.

Google has launched a new window known as community flow

. There you will see nearby information that was recently posted by Local guides trustworthy, business and the people we follow via the Follow button, located at each location. In addition to this button, in each post you can see photos, the comment of the person who made the post, press the button I love and see where is the place that we see the review from.

This new feature is starting to roll out today for all Android and iOS users simultaneously. As usual, these kind of massive updates usually reach our phones in a phased fashion, so even if you run Google Play and download the app, you might still have to wait a few hours or days.
