PDPO technology would not be available on the iPhone this year

IPhone 12 ID Touch

Just a few days ago we told you about how ProMotion, the technology that delivers the highest level of refreshment to iPad Pro screens, can easily get to the iPhone. Due to this add-on, the next generation will have an OLED screen it can fluctuate between 60Hz and 120Hz, to achieve greater distribution in relation to its predecessors. However, it is still a few months before that moment arrives, and this new possibility may have been dropped.

When it comes to iPhones, which have considerably smaller batteries than those found in IP Pro, along with different panel technology, the advent of LTPO screens may be needed. At least, that's what analyst Ross Young suggests On Twitter

. The iPhone wouldn't be the first to have these, of course, because the Apple Watch already uses them to achieve screen-like features all the time Series 5.

Thanks to LTPO screens, devices may vary their refresh rate depending on the requirements of each program. For example, if you use a frequency display function it can be 1Hz. In games and applications that require you, the speed can reach 120Hz. This way, the power management of the app is very efficient. The problem is that this year the only mobile phone with an LTPO screen wasn't Apple, but from Samsung.

For 120Hz, you need an LTPO that enables variable refresh to be able to work at 1Hz-120Hz and extend battery life. Only one call will have a PDPO. We will reward it tomorrow with display specs.

About Display Technology. With LTPO, you can change the refresh rate of the display from 1Hz to 120Hz based on the content. In normal mode, 1Hz. In gaming conditions, 120Hz. Samsung's biggest power advantage. Apple will not have a PDPO until 2021.

Ross Young himself, as pointed out by MacRumors, confirms that this year Samsung will have a separate release of LTPO screens on mobile, and that the only thing it will have in its specification will be the next Galaxy Note. Therefore, Apple will have to wait until 2021

to bring this technology to the iPhone, which could mean that Apple finally decides to wait until next year to launch ProMotion without hurting its independence.

Of course, everything has not yet been said. And it's likely that, unless they can use the LTPO screens on the iPhone, they will take ProMotion on their devices. And the iPad Pro doesn't have it either. The question is whether Apple be prepared to sacrifice independence of its edges to increase the degree of refreshment.
