Samsung would launch its Galaxy Smart Tags to manage AirTags

oriXone December 7, 2020 No Comments

Samsung could work on its own Galaxy Smart Tag

We’ve been behind Apple AirTags for months. It is a new accessory capable of attaching to any surface, product or element for the purpose of place it in a specific space thanks to the ultra-wideband technology that Apple has introduced in its devices in recent years. However, months go by and we have no news of the product … and this is something that surprises even those who are on the run. Other rumors and notes indicate that Samsung may soon launch its Galaxy smart beacon, a product with the same characteristics as the supposed AirTag. A new space where competition will increase more and more in 2021.

What will we see before the Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag or the Apple AirTag?

Apple has hinted in its iOS and iPadOS beta versions of lines of code referring to the AirTag. Not only that, but patents, final prototype designs, and support guides for this product have also been issued. This tells us that the the launch of this product is getting closer and closer. However, whenever a keynote is approaching and the chances of launching are high, we don’t officially see it.

From the SamMobile media, they assure that Samsung would manufacture the rival against the AirTag they would call Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag.

It is a prototype with the model number IE-T5300 and has been found in a multitude of certificates and documents from the company Indonesia Telecom. Samsung’s ultimate goal is to integrate this device which will use ultra-wide band in its ecosystem of SmartThings, the home automation service of the South Korean company.

The purpose of use is very similar to the concept of AirTag since Samsung already has its infrastructure called Find SmartThings With which you can already find Galaxy devices in depth thanks to UWB technology available in a large number of products. Take a look at the operation that it will most likely share with smart tags:

If SmartThings Find is reported for a lost device, nearby Galaxy series smartphones or tablets that have been activated to help find lost devices can report that device to the SmartThings server and server alerts return to the user. All user data in SmartThings Find is encrypted and securely protected to ensure that the device’s location is not revealed to anyone, only its owner.

When will we see Apple AirTags? Will it be before or after the launch of the Galaxy Smart Tag? We can only wait because it will probably not be until 2021 when we see these products in store.
