It’s pure curiosity, but since we saw the seven colors in which the new iMac with M1 chip will be available, we’ve been wondering what will be the color that will sell the most. Well, a recent study by SellCell and reflected in MacRumors may have given us that answer.
Bluer than gray, and hardly anyone wants orange
After polling over 3,000 US iPhone or iPad owners, it appears that the most popular color is blue (33.4%) followed by silver (30.1%) and green (13.4%). Behind we have yellow (6.8%), red (4.1%) and orange with (3.3%).
I have to say that only 14% of respondents expressed interest in purchasing one of these iMacs, and that, therefore, the percentages relate to the total for only that part of the survey. Consider that Apple primarily sells laptops, with desktops being a minority option but appearing to be making a comeback after pandemic lockdowns.
Keys, what we most want to locate with the new AirTags
AirTags had better reception in the survey: 61% of respondents want to have one and only 14% think it is an expensive product. More than half choose to buy the four-unit pack (57%), while the rest want to test first by buying just one.
Regarding the use of these AirTags, 42.4% of people questioned want it for their keychain. 34.8% want it for what Apple doesn’t recommend, by placing it on their pets; while there are lower percentages to include it in luggage, purses and bikes.
Finally, we also have some curious data: 82% of respondents want Face ID on their Mac, but 21% want the return of Touch ID on their iPhone and 17% want the dynamic 120 Hz of the ProMotion screens on them. Yes only 0.8% want these iPhones to adopt the USB-C port.
