Developers love to build old games in the Unreal Engine. Diablo 2 is also available from time to time smaller projects to see. Another now comes from the Youtube channel upside down. This is screwing on you right now Quasi remake of the action role-playing game from 2000.
You can see the corresponding video directly above this message. However, there is not much to see yet. Work on it has only really started a few weeks ago and it is also very unlikely that we will ever actually see a complete product.
What exactly can you see in the video?
If you played Diablo 2, you will surely recognize the location. This is the Pandemonium Fortress from the last act of the role-playing game. Here the dark fortress acts as a focal point from where our hero sets off in Act 4 to complete quests.
According to Upside Down, when building this scenery, he tried to take as many details as possible from the original. But he wanted to leave a few footprints, as it were, that set his remaster apart from the original.
Upside Down also offers tutorials on its channel
Can you play that?
At the moment it looks rather poor: In its current form, this Diablo-2 remake is just a small test run. A passion project that is still in its infancy. After all, the game character itself is not much more than a crash test dummy and the skeletons are all standing around in the area.
Upside Down explains that Diablo 2 only motivated him to develop games himself. However, the Diablo 2 project does not serve the purpose of building your own remake. The developer only wants to add to his portfolio. Probably to apply to other developer studios.
If you absolutely want to play Diablo 2 in new graphics, you can also download a mod for Grim Dawn. It offers the complete game, just in the game engine of its action RPG competitor. Blizzard is said to even be working on an HD remaster itself. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
