- After Google opened its platform to third-party providers, new navigation apps appear.
- With TomTomGO, the navigation manufacturer publishes an extensive competitor.
- The app is extremely popular in the Google App Store and offers many interesting features.
What makes TomTom GO so dangerous? Anyone who only knows TomTom from inexpensive navigation devices is underestimating the Dutch. With 30 years of experience in the areas of map material, navigation and car traffic, the provider is a real competitor.
A classic navigation system with a subscription model
The manufacturer advertises with weekly updated offline maps, real-time traffic information and a speed camera warning. TomTom can pay for the service as a subscription. But that is obviously by no means an obstacle for Android users, because with over 10 million downloads on Google Play, TomTom GO was very popular even without Android Auto support.
