No Man’s Sky has received a new update by surprise today, which among several additions brings what developers have dubbed as ByteBeat Device. This ByteBeat Device will allow players to create their own audios in the immense universe of the game, one of the few things left to do to a game that over the years has been improving by leaps and bounds.
Base construction is a big part of what players spend their time doing in No Man’s Sky, and a frequent request by the players is the ability to add sounds and music to their construction. The Hello Games team likes creative challenges, so during the last weeks one of its programmers became obsessed with making an audio creation tool for the community, they have been so excited about their creation that they have already made it available of the players.
«We love playing with music programs like Teenage Engineering Synths or FruityLoops, and we like the idea of creating something that can encourage anyone to make great audio », comment on the official blog of the game, with a trailer that accompanies the announcement:
Once placed on the base and energized, the ByteBeat will immediately start producing sound. ByteBeat formulas are made of simple waveforms that are manipulated through mathematics – but by default, the device handles all mathematical heavy work, generating randomly presets for you to play with. Dedicated audiophiles have the option to explore more deeply, Manually drawing sequences of notes, rhythms and even manipulating sounds.
The sequencer's user interface allows you to customize your track, which allows you to modify the melody and drums. If enabled, the note marker will be filled in automatically, and other panels allow you to adjust the notes and tempo.
Players who want to delve into the math behind the waveform can use the advanced waveform user interface to fine tune the mathematical operators that are at the heart of their sound. Or simply randomize the function and generate a completely new sound!
The ByteBeat device can be synchronized by adjusting it to other ByteBeats, or by connecting the devices with a new type of cable. This allows you to put several tracks in layers and create more complex compositions. Finally, a new ByteBeat switch allows players to connect other devices, such as lights, with bursts of energy that synchronize to the rhythm of the track.
«Update 2.24 is now available on all platforms. In addition to the ByteBeat device, it includes a series of corrections and improvements. The full list of patch notes is below. Thank you very much for your continued support of No Man’s Sky this year. It has been one of the biggest so far In all kinds of ways.
