In a new video by IGN's colleagues, executive producer Marty Stratton, director Hugo Martin, lead level designer Jerry Keehan and lead game programmer Evan Eubanks sat down to watch a speed run from the current record holder Xamide.
In a mere 27 minutes, this speed runner played through the game, though not without using a few bugs and exploits to partially bypass parts of the game. Xamide also played the game in Vulkan mode and thus achieved frame rates of around 250 frames per second.
"This is unbelievable" was the developers' uniform comment. The video also discusses whether you should fix certain bugs and exploits and what effects this has on speed runs. However, it is hardly possible to prevent players from using exploits. Just think about hiding special Easter Eggs for Speedrunners.
