Disney and Marvel Studios have owned the rights to the X-Men since they bought 20th Century Fox in 2019. Since then, Marvel fans have been expecting Disney to launch an “X-Men” reboot, and according to a new report on the website The Illuminerdi

this is exactly the case now: The Marvel Studios have therefore started to develop an “X-Men” film that makes the mutants into a big picture Marvel Cinematic Universe will bring in.

Plot details, actors, a director or author are not yet to be announced at such an early point in the development process of the new MCU “X-Men” film. But The Illuminerdi claims to have found out the title of the upcoming reboot film: It is “The Mutants”.

This title choice is sure to surprise “X-Men” fans, but “The Mutants” is no coincidence: Marvel production director Victoria Alonso explained

as early as 2019 that the title “X-Men” would no longer offer the inclusiveness necessary for today’s times, because so many women or female characters are part of the “X-Men” team.

Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige also spoke of “mutants” rather than “X-Men” at the San Diego Comic-Con that same year.

The website offers another possible explanation for the surprising new title Screenrant: Under certain circumstances, the US colleagues suspect, the Marvel Studios run the “X-Men” into the MCU in 2 steps: First, a story is told about mutants in general, thus introducing the concept into the MCU. This will be followed by an “X-Men” film about the legendary team led by Professor X.

The title reported here by the US source The Illuminerdi may change again in the development of the upcoming “X-Men” film – that would not be unusual! What has been confirmed for sure, however, is that loudmouth Deadpool is coming to the MCU: According to current plans, “Deadpool 3” will be released in 2023 and fortunately again will not be suitable for minors.
