Developer Taleworlds Entertainment continues to work diligently on Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord – most recently it was announced that players will soon be able to found their own kingdom, even without continuing the story campaign.
However, the open-world role-playing game apparently has completely different problems, as fans have now found out: In the various fan communities for Bannerlord, for example on Reddit and in the Steam forums, there have always been complaints that Entire talent trees may only work partially or not at all.
Only 40 percent of the talents run as they should
A player has now bothered to analyze the code of the game and found that many talents have no function at allbecause they don’t appear in the code.
On the website Bannerlordperks.com you can get your own impression and see that complete skill trees currently have no use at all. This includes:
- Riding
- Scouting
- Tactics
- Roguery
- steward
- Engineering
The talents of the ranged archery, crossbows and throwing trees do not work either, with one or two exceptions, according to the website.
Beta patch makes the problem worse
The developers released this weekend with 1.4.1 a new beta patchwho should at least make the talents usable for two-handed weapons, like that Patch notes betray.
These now seem to work, at least in part – but a little too well. Anyone who has gained 275 points with two-handed weapons through hard training can unlock the “Two Handed Mastery” talent. This grants more damage and attack speed per skill point.
A video posted on Reddit shows that that final talent of the two-handed tree is currently pretty much overpowering is. Although the player uses a slow two-hand ax there, he strikes ridiculously quickly:
So, the new final perk for 2H is completely broken. This is an 85 speed ax i’m swinging from r / mountandblade
With the commentators from the Reddit community the video causes irritation: Some fans wonder whether Taleworlds is testing his changes to the game at all – after all, the absurd attack speed should have caught the eye quickly.
Beta patch: The patch discussed here is a beta patch. According to the developers, these updates have been tested for technical problems, but must be installed manually by opening the game settings from M&B 2 on Steam and selecting the patch there under »Betas«.
That’s why the skills are so broken
Since Mount & Blade 2 is still in early access, it is not surprising that many things are not yet 100 percent correct.
The developers provide one for the broken perks in the official Taleworlds forum Reason: According to Community Manager Callum Talent system currently still completely revised, which is why there should be no or only a few fixes or changes to the current system.
However, it is not yet clear when the revised system will find its way into the game.
